Bauer Proto-2
What HockeyStickMan Says
If you like to lean into your shot and still want to know exactly where it's going, take a look at this one. It's a mid-kick stick that blends power and precision, and it feels lighter in your hands than the scale says.
Description
Built for shooters who load up from range but still need to make plays in tight. If you want power without giving up accuracy or puck feel, the Proto-2 is built for you.
The mid kick point flexes through the middle of the shaft, so you can really lean into your shot and get a heavy release that still stays on target. Bauer moved the balance point to make the stick feel lighter than it actually is, which gives you quicker hands when handling the puck or lifting a defender's stick. The new blade core is lighter than the previous model for better puck feel, without losing the pop off the blade.
Features
-
Mid-Kick Construction – Lets you lean into your shot for power, with the control to keep it accurate at any range.
-
Lighter Blade Core – Lighter than the previous model for better puck feel, with the same pop players love.
-
Optimized Balance Point – Makes the stick feel lighter than it weighs, for more control when stickhandling and stick-checking.
-
Boron Fibre – A Bauer-exclusive material that's light and rigid, storing more energy and making the stick more responsive. Featured on 40 flex and above.
-
Dark Graphic – A dark, striking look that stands out on the ice.
How It Compares
Torn between the Proto-2 and the Bauer Nexus 2N Pro XL? Both are mid-kick sticks built for balanced power and accuracy. The 2N Pro XL is the proven, traditional pro build, while the Proto-2 brings newer tech like boron fibre, a lighter blade core, and an optimized balance point. If you want the shortest release in tight areas, look at the Bauer Vapor Flylite instead.
