What Stick Does Conor Garland Use?
Spec Check – Conor Garland
After he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2021, undersized winger Conor Garland spoke with Canucks reporter Patrick Johnston about his short stick — even by his standards.
Garland is just 5’8” but his playing style mimics that of a much bigger player. He battles for pucks, plays through contact and forces turnovers. But there is one element of Garland’s game where he thrives on using a short stick: puck control.
Garland skates low to the ice and routinely works in tight spaces. Using a shorter stick helps him protect the puck.
He’s stuck with Bauer for most of his NHL career, and was first spotted using the Flylite in the 2019-20 season when he was with the Arizona Coyotes. He likes the weight and feel of Bauer sticks, he told Johnston, and experiments with builds in the offseason.
We first saw Garland using this blue colourway in 2021-22, his first season with the Canucks. By the end of that season, he had switched to a HyperLite, so we can safely say that this stick is from the middle of his first year in Vancouver.
But what’s interesting is that this stick has the code ‘BGP2B,’ which is the 355g Bauer Vapor ADV. We first saw this code appear in 2017, and it’s since remained popular among pro players.
Garland has since cycled through the HyperLite 2 and the Pulse, which he’s been using to open the 2026-27 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
