What Stick Does Matvei Michkov Use?

Spec Check – Matvei Michkov

The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a tough start this season, but Matvei Michkov is currently tied for 12th in the NHL with 6 goals and tied for first on his team with 7 points.

We just got an orange Bauer Vapor Hyperlite 2 with Michkov’s name, and this one is pretty interesting.

For starters, this is one of the deepest curves we’ve ever seen. Michkov uses an old W71 Pacioretty blade, but this is the first time we’ve seen it on a left-handed Bauer stick.

What’s more interesting is that Michkov has used Warrior sticks throughout his young NHL career to date, cycling through the Alpha LX2 Pro, Covert QR5 Pro and recently jumping to the Alpha LX3 Pro.

Our best guess is that he was just testing out this Bauer stick for feel. The BGP2B code on the front of the shaft indicates that it’s an old Vapor ADV dressed as an orange Hyperlite 2. We first saw this code appear in 2017, and it’s since remained popular among pro players.

Will we ever see Michkov make the switch to Bauer, or does he continue with Warrior?
